Antique Appraisals
In collaboration with ONIT Canada and Brock University’s Department of History, we provide discreet appraisal and provenance services for artworks, manuscripts, books, and objects of historical significance. Each piece is considered not merely as an object, but as an artefact with a history: its material, age, condition, authorship, provenance, and place within a wider cultural record.
We prepare formal appraisals and letters of provenance for insurance, private sale, estate and collection records, and auction purposes. Particular attention is given to the details that establish an object's identity and history, from inscriptions and bindings to signatures, editions, previous ownership, and other marks of its passage through time.
Where appropriate, our work draws upon archival research and specialist knowledge to help establish a fuller account of an object's origin and significance. Documentation is prepared with discretion and precision, intended to accompany the object throughout its future life.
